The local Shangan call this place Manyeleti – ‘Place of Stars’. Let yourself be enchanted.
Manyeleti impresses with:
- Its exciting history
- Its beautiful unique location
- and a very personally managed Luxury Lodge!
History
Manyeleti is closely linked to South African history: during Apartheid from 1948 – 1989, it was the only game reserve where ‘non-whites’ were welcome as tourists. Only a few tourists found their way to Manyeleti during this time, so there were only a few lodges and limited infrastructure. This has implications to this day: guests can experience a large reserve with ‘Low Impact’ tourism. There are only a few selected lodges and a high density of wildlife.
Location
Manyeleti is located between the famous game reserves Sabi Sands and Timbavati. Years ago, the fences between the individual reserves were removed, allowing animals to move freely across this vast area. Safari guests are right in the natural habitat of the animals.
This makes for exciting game drives and animal sightings. On our first safari day, we followed this beautiful female leopard – a magical moment! Despite the poor light, it is enchanting…
Tintswalo Safari Lodge
The care and experiences blew me away! Tintswalo doesn’t just have staff, everything feels like one big family. Rarely have I been in a lodge where everything is truly geared towards the needs and experiences of the guests.
And what a welcome we received!
The chalets are built in classic safari lodge style and reminiscent of famous explorers of the past: including Burton, Livingstone, Kingsley, Speke & Stanley. The walls of the chalets are reminiscent of the famous Zimbabwe ruins and the interior decoration of the chalets takes travelers back to the past of elegant safari times. Each room is individually styled and dedicated to its famous namesake.
Our tip: plan some time to enjoy your room and the ambience of historic explorer times.
